Granby Free Public Library Trustee Meeting
March 8, 2011

Present:  Gwen Morrissey, Virginia Snopek, Leah Condon, Bridget Roy, Dianne Barry, Nancy Evren, Carol Battersby, and Director Jennifer Grant.

Absent:  Renee Still, and Linda Casey.

The minutes from February 8th were read.  Carol made a motion to accept them as amended, with a second by Nancy.  The motion passed unanimously.

Capital Campaign Update:  The campaign is going well.  Some of the Trustees and committee members have made pledges or donated to the fund already.  People who have served as trustees in the past have been contacted.  To date, there has been $26,000 in pledges.  Money has also been collected in response to the town-wide mailing.  More fund raising activities are planned.  Ideas include a music festival at Dufresne Park with area bands and an open mike.  A cocktail party and garden tour, craft fair and fundraising parties are also being considered.  The Steering Committee will be presented with these and other ideas.  A Knit-a-Thon is being planned.  Web’s in Northampton has pledged $1,000, plus a donation of $400.00 worth of yarn.  The Fun –to- Knit club at the C.O.A. will be invited to participate.
Frank Boron will make a meter to measure the fund.  The Trustees are encouraged to write letters seeking donations.

Reviewer walkthrough:  A reviewer from M.B.L.C. came to the library to do a walkthrough evaluation for the grant.  Virginia was there to meet with the reviewer.  It was a very busy day at the library, with a First Aid class, adult writing class, and more.  The reviewer praised the group who wrote the grant.  He said that he has never seen a library so deserving of a grant.

Midterm evaluation:  The Director and staff had their mid-term evaluations done.

New Public Service Announcement:  Spencer Gagnon and Virginia have recorded one.  Jennifer is planning to record one, as is Jeanne, and Janice.

Lion’s Club Pancake breakfast is to be held on April 16th.  Virginia asked for Trustees to volunteer to work at the event.  The proceeds will be shared with the library building fund.  It is on the same day as the library Book & Bake sale.  Dianne and Carol volunteered to work for the Lion’s club.

Director’s Report:

Cardholders have been donated by Easthampton Savings Bank

$4,657.07 in grant money from MBLC has been paid.  This is the second half of the $8,913.50 grant amount.

Warrants in the amounts of $1097, 06, $1,152.05, and $668.78 were proposed.  Gwen made a motion to accept them, with a second by Carol.  The motion passed unanimously
